Our Marketing Process: Exactly What We Do When You Become a Client

The most common questions I get are "Can you tell me about your process?" and "How does it work exactly?"

I used to answer these questions with mostly technical SEO and marketing terms (and got very little response from people on the other end). I've learned that most people really are most interested in the structure of our services, how the work is completed, and what they should be expecting month to month.

Phase 1: The Onboarding Process

A few days after signing up with Boost Marketing & SEO, we’ll schedule your Welcome Strategy Call. This is where you’ll learn a little bit more about our process and what can be expected during each phase of our relationship. We’ll also discuss initial custom strategies for your business based upon what we’re seeing in your industry. This phone call typically lasts 20-30 minutes.

After the call you’ll receive a couple emails we’ll need you to respond to:

  • SEO/Marketing Questionnaire - This will help us determine everything we'll need to get your campaigns up and running
  • Marketing Strategy Outline - This email will recap what we talked about in our Welcome Strategy Call, gather and organize all logins for your website, social media, recap what you can use as your "offer" in your funnels, and propose a list of keywords & services to target our SEO efforts towards

While you’re gathering the information needed for these email responses, we’ll move into our next phase…

Phase 2: Complete Digital Audit & Success Plan

While we initially screen clients and their current digital presence before working with them, once we’re actually moving forward it’s time to do what we call an “Online Marketing Presence Deep Dive”.

We need to understand every aspect of your current online presence, from website issues, on-page SEO errors, complete backlink audit, and competitor audit. From there we put together our plan to fix it, one step at a time.

This is the most crucial part of the campaign because it not only allows us to see what needs the most attention, but also gives you an idea with where you’re really at vs where you could be in the very near future.

a) Our Website & On-Page SEO Audit helps us discover information about:

  • Mobile Responsiveness
  • Site Page Load Speed
  • Image Optimization Issues
  • Page Titles
  • Meta Descriptions
  • Headings
  • Keyword Density
  • Internal LInks
  • image Alt Tags
  • 404 Errors
  • 301 Redirects
  • Schema Markup
  • Analytics/Search Console Installation
  • FB Retargeting Pixel installation

b) Our Off-Page & Link Profile SEO Audit helps us discover information about:

  • Anchor Text ratios to your site
  • Spammy Backlink Profile and if it needs to be cleaned up
  • Top website sources linking to you
  • If listed in proper local & industry specific business directories
  • Which Keywords You Currently Rank for & Don't Rank for
  • Your online reviews and current reputation across the internet
  • If Google My Business is properly set up and optimized
  • And much more...

b) Our Competitor Audit helps us discover information about:

  • Which competitors lead your industry in the online space
  • Who your competitors are getting their backlinks from
  • Exactly how they're using their website to get leads and how we can one-up them
  • What the target goals need to be to gain the top position when it comes to SEO, linkbuilding, and online reviews
  • See which offers are working for competitors (and again, use that offer to our advantage to make yours even better)

All of this information is compiled into a spreadsheet (for you to view of course) and allows us to give an accurate assessment of where we need to start and where we need to be month over month.

3

Phase 3: Website Redesign & Target Page Creation

In the very beginning, we will determine if it's a necessity for you to have a new website build for optimal long term gains, or if your website can be altered and restructured as is. One of 2 things will happen:

  • If your website is out of date and you agree to let us rebuild a new beautiful, high converting website for you, we'll start building that on a demo server behind the scenes until completed. (We do not charge extra for this process, and typically will have your new site up and running in 3 weeks time.)
  • If the overall design of the website is fine as is, we will figure out which on-page SEO changes will need to be made for the long term marketing strategy to pay off. Content may need to be restructured or altered and new pages may need to be added.

For Website Redesigns:

From Day One to when you give us the okay to launch your new website, visitors will still see your existing website. The redesign process is done behind the scenes until everything is ready to make the switch.

We will copy your existing website and all of your content over to a demo server where we can redesign your site in private.

If you don’t already have one, we recommend setting up your own hosting account.

We offer our own hosting you can purchase a plan on or you can purchase your own.

We’ll recommend the best hosting company for your type of website: fastest loading times, the best up-time, strong security and one with 24/7 highly rated customer support. (Just ask, we can usually get you a discount too!)

Signing up for hosting takes about 3 minutes. Then, you send us the info and we get to work on your new site.

We setup all of our sites with wordpress CMS so you can easily make changes at will if needed.

Once the content is migrated over and cleanup is complete, we will install and configure a variety of software programs and scripts: SEO tools, tracking pixels and tracking phone numbers, conversion tools, email popups and opt-ins, contact forms, live chat software and much more.

We want to make sure everything on your website is 100% trackable, because if we can’t track where your visitors come from and what they’re doing on your site, then there’s no way optimize for the best long term ROI.

Once your site is completely migrated and looks ready to go live, we move onto Phase 4:

Target Page Creation:

Although this goes hand in hand with the next phase, the SEO overhaul, target page content creation is usually done before launching your revamped website. And if we’re using a current site, it’s the first step to SEO.

We typically map out your selected keywords we found to use as a Topic for individual pages on your website.

These are the pages we aim to rank in search engines and the ones that will

  • Bring the most traffic
  • Convert the most traffic into leads

These are the MOST important pages on your site. We have our writers create in depth content that is perfectly optimized for search engines before posting it on your site.

This is the FOUNDATION of any Well Optimized Website Structure for SEO, having a target page layout.

Phase 4: Custom Sales Funnel, Facebook Ads, Google Adwords, & Retargeting

As soon as your new website or restructured site is live, we immediately get simple but effective customized online sales funnel setup for your business, even before we start moving onto crushing your SEO campaign.

Why? Because the sales funnel can help you start to generate leads almost immediately while SEO is a long term ROI.

Over time, the amount of leads from your SEO campaign as it matures will overpower any sales funnel leads that you receive from Facebook Ads, Google Adwords, and other Paid traffic sources. But combining the two techniques together makes for our local business SECRET WEAPON.

We use a combo of advanced sales funnel techniques to encourage consumers that arrive to your website from Google organic search and via a slick Facebook Ads/Google Adwords campaign that we set up to submit their info or purchase from you. This gives you a jump on getting leads that you can convert into lifelong customers.

Lure prospective customers into your sales funnel by WOWing them with Value.

Question: Why do we include this sales funnel in every digital marketing SEO campaign?

Because it allows us to get you started with traffic and leads while we work to get the rankings up to the top in Google over the next few months.

It also allows the businesses we work with to start building an Email List as an Added bonus.

**We generally supply a limited ads budget with option to build budget over time

While many businesses will benefit solely from a Facebook Ads Sales Funnel, some types of businesses will benefit even more by adding Google Adwords into the mix.

When you have all of these things firing on all cylinders, you’ll be on top of your industry in no time.

Adwords is great for emergency services and service businesses where people need a solution now.

You pay per click and set an advertising spend budget.

We will typically recommend this to certain clients in certain industries if we think it’s a necessary component.

Because the more leads you get, the more revenue you bring in. Contact us for more questions about Adwords Management and if we think it will be a good option for your campaign.

Retargeting

Most Websites Lose 80% Of Their Potential Customers Because They Simply Don’t Have Retargeting Set Up.

Even if your website is setup with the right conversion elements in place, the best you’re likely to get is 20% of visitors instantly contacting you.

That means 80% of the visitors you are spending money on advertising to send to your website, are not contacting you.

We turn that around and convert “research now, buy later” prospects into your customers.

retargeting

Have you ever looked at a product on Amazon, then repeatedly seen this product advertised everywhere afterwards on other websites and all over Facebook? This is retargeting.

After visiting your website, people will be browsing other websites , and seeing your adverts. It’s a great way of bringing prospects back and establishing strong brand presence. We’ll set this up immediately for you in your campaign.

Phase 5: SEO Overhaul: Google's Circle of Trust

search resultsGoogle’s algorithm crawls and indexes the world’s information on billions of websites across the globe.

You can think of the algorithm as a filter or strainer. Someone searches for “pizza restaurant” in your city. Google retrieves all the webpages in its index optimized for the phrase “pizza restaurant in [city]”.

It then puts those pages through a filter. Pages on websites that are not optimized properly (what Google thinks wouldn’t be a good result for the searcher) and those that are over-optimized are caught in the filter. They don’t make it through.

The ones that do pass through the filter are the pages Google thinks have the best chance of answering the search query.

Those pages are then ranked according to how useful Google’s computer thinks they will be to the searcher.

Google’s algorithm gets tweaked every day in order to provide the best possible results. There’s over 200 known ranking factors and likely hundreds more that no one knows about.

At Boost Marketing & SEO, we have tested hundreds of strategies and played around with many different configured pages to figure out what’s working right now. We have our process down to a T when it comes to ranking a website.

Most of the ranking factors in Google fall within 3 main categories: They are On-Page Optimization, Links and User Experience.

On-Page Optimization

In order for Google to rank your website for a specific search phrase, the phrase and its related searches need to be found naturally on the page you’d like to rank. Here are some of the top elements of a page that must to be optimized in order to rank:

  1. URL
  2. Title
  3. Headings
  4. Body content
  5. Images
  6. Internal links
  7. Outbound links

The Targeted Landing Pages we create on your new site are well though out ahead of time and perfectly optimized for specific phrases you want people to find your site with.

In low competition markets, sometimes just completing these steps is enough to get your pages into the top 10 results (The Coveted first page of Google)

But in many medium to high competition markets where you have thousands of websites and tens of thousands of pages and businesses fighting for only ten organic listings, we need to do more than just publish and optimize pages. But On-Page is a CRUCIAL first step.

Next we need to build links that point to pages on your website that are most important. This tells Google that these are the best pages to show for these searches. It’s similar to casting votes.

Links

External, or inbound, links must start with a solid foundation. Essentially we’ll be picking up the “low hanging fruit.”

Many real businesses have profiles on certain related types of sites.  And most of the links in those profiles that point back to the business’s site usually go to the homepage or service pages. And they use the business’s name as anchor text (the clickable words in the link).

This is where we start. If you don’t already have these listings, we create them for you. If you do, they may not be optimized properly, so we go through and clean them up.

In this phase we are simply creating profile links. Like they sound, profile links are the links that big sites allow you to drop into your description. These foundation links will get your site into Google’s circle of trust, which is where you want to be if you ever want to eventually make the climb to the very top of the page.

Again, this is just one more step that needs to be completed and likely won’t get you all the way to the Top Ten. But it will put your website onto the right path. We’ll get into the real powerful links that will move the needle in the section

Here are the top 8 types of sites we use for profile links:

  1. Local directories (indicating you’re targeting a specific geographic region)
  2. Industry Specific directories
  3. Review sites (Yelp, BBB, etc)
  4. Social Media Sites
  5. Blogging Platforms (blogger, medium.com, etc)
  6. Major Data Aggregators

These steps above are important, but User Experience has become a big ranking factor only recently as Google’s AI has improved vastly.

Links are definitely not dead. As a matter of fact, they are still the most important ranking factor. But user experience is on its way to being the new Links.

User Experience

User Experience is measured by what people do on your site. Google tracks every click and scroll. They watch how people use your website.

Here are a few User Experience metrics and items we optimize your site for:

  • User intent
  • Great navigation through menus and internal linking
  • Bounce Rate
  • Time on Site
  • Pages Visited
  • Social sharing
  • Relevance
  • 404 errors
  • Click through rate from the Google Search results

Phase 6: Propelling Your Website to the Top

Alright so your business’s online foundation is solid. Your website is clean and beautiful and perfectly optimized so Google can crawl it freely and really like what it sees. In Google’s eyes, your website’s trust factor is increasing week after week.

So what’s the next steps to keep the upwards momentum going and push your website to the very top of Google’s search results for the terms that will bring you the most traffic?

After your profile links and local business links are built, we push for higher authority more powerful links on websites in your industry and not in your industry.

We may write content on the blogs of websites in your industry with a link back to your website, we will find competitor links that we can obtain, we will publish on blogging platforms and on networks of sites that we only have access to.

Types of Content We’ll Publish Would be:

  • News Articles/Posts/Statuses
  • Images/Infographics
  • Videos
  • Slideshows
  • Audio

Some of the types of sites we’ll publish content on are:

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Twitter
  • Google Plus
  • Tumblr
  • Industry Specific Blogs
  • Local News Articles
  • Large Authority Websites
  • Our Private Network of Sites
  • Resource Pages
  • Youtube
  • And many more

What matters is relevant and authority links (or votes) from powerful sites to your site. This tells Google that “Yes, this business is the best selection for this search query.” And that’s how you get your Boost to the top of Page 1.

We do this until the pages we want to rank are in the top 3 for their main keywords. And then we do the process all over again for new keywords to double up your traffic.

When Will My Site Rank?

If you’ve read this far, you’re probably getting the picture that doing all of these tasks and implementing these expert SEO is not an overnight process.

Typically for less competitive “longer search phrases” where the amount of search volume is lower, you’ll start to see top ten rankings in the 1-2 month mark.

As we continue the campaign, more and more of your more competitive keyword terms will start to break on the first page.

For extremely high competition keywords like “personal injury lawyer” or “roofer” or “cosmetic dentist”, the majority of our clients make it to the top ten at around the 5 or 6 month mark.

Consistency is key and our process does exactly like that. Over time your site’s value will grow and your rankings will move further and further to the top.

The best part about SEO? It’s a long term solution to getting consistent FREE traffic. And it brings a massive ROI with it.

Phase 8: Reporting, Communication, and Top Notch Customer Service

Yes, we know that most SEO & Digital Marketing Agencies are absolutely terrible at communicating with their clients. And that’s why we aim to break that stereotype.

It starts at the very top. I am on the front lines as the CEO of Boost Marketing & SEO. You’ll talk to me if you have questions or concerns, no one else.

You’re not working with some newly hired Account Executive when you’re working with us. You’re working with the President and the CEO – who is the most vested in your success. The success of Boost is tied to the success of your own business.

In the first few days, we’ll have a welcome strategy call, followed up with our strategy email recapping what was covered on the call and presenting the researched target keywords, target audience, and goals we propose to target and hit in the near future.

Here are the emails and reports you’ll receive on a monthly basis:

  1. Traffic/Analytics Report
  2. Rankings Report
  3. Leads Report (breakdown of calls/form submissions by traffic source)
  4. Social Media Report

In addition to the calls and monthly reports, you can email me at any time. Website edit requests are usually handled within 24 hours and are included in your month-to-month contract (you can cancel your contract at any time, no long term commitments).

We try to keep you in the loop as much as possible. Consider us your personal marketing department.

Bonus: Frequently Asked Questions

When Will the Leads Start Rolling In?

The question that everyone asks. No one wants to wait around to see if their marketing will work.

Leads in SEO always closely follow the ranking timeline we explained earlier. First your site’s pages start showing up more and more to users. As your website trust grows and you continue to move up on page 1 for search queries your traffic will increase. And as your traffic increases, leads will start to come in. Slowly at first, and faster as your rankings grow.

The best part about our package is setting up the sales funnel with Facebook advertising in conjunction with SEO allow us to start generating leads for you almost instantly once everything is up and running. Once SEO starts to really kick in a few months into the campaign, that’s when you’ll really start to see the ROI of your marketing.

And once the leads start rolling in, we optimize to squeeze as mean leads out of the traffic you get over time.

MORE TRAFFIC + MORE CONVERSIONS = MORE LEADS

Do You Lock People Into Contracts?

No our contracts are month-to-month and you can walk away at any time as long as you give us a month’s notice ahead of time. The reason we do this is so you don’t feel like there’s no way out.

While we don’t doubt you’ll be impressed with the results, we know that it’s a nice feeling knowing that you are not locked down with one company regardless of what happens.

We strive to keep you on as a lifetime client and hope you’ll stay with us as your online visibility and ROI grows!
